Offerring this photo tour since winter 2023, we present our new Northern Lights Photo Tour 2025, featuring a completely open itinerary, and fully focused on hunting and photographing the mesmerizing northern lights. On this tour, we will travel around the Arctic region, visiting locations in Norway, Sweden, and Finland, in search of the best weather conditions for photographing this unparalleled natural phenomenon.
We will start and end the tour at Tromso Airport, Norway, and although we have a preliminary itinerary, we reserve the right to modify the entire route and places to visit, depending on the weather forecasts in the days leading up. In doing so, we aim to move through the areas with the clearest skies in this part of the Arctic, in search of the best conditions to capture the Northern Lights.
By undertaking the trip in winter, we also ensure the best possible conditions for viewing the auroras. Additionally, we will be above the Arctic Circle, in the best area in all of Europe to enjoy this spectacle. Not to forget, the stunning landscapes we will traverse, including majestic fjords, beautiful maritime scenery, and wonderful peaks and lakes. This will allow us to enjoy the night skies with the auroras, as well as capture magnificent images during the rest of the day.
Moreover, we are so confident in the success of a trip like this, with its open itinerary, that if you don’t manage to photograph the Northern Lights during the trip, we offer you the chance to retake the trip for free in one of the groups over the next 3 years. If anyone offers you a similar success guarantee, it’s because you can be sure our trip won’t disappoint.
This Northern Lights Photo Tour, as may be obvious, is entirely focused on photographing the Northern Lights or auroras borealis and, to a lesser extent, on winter landscapes.
As mentioned before, during the trip we will try to find areas with the best possible weather conditions for capturing the Northern Lights, moving even between different countries such as Norway, Sweden, and Finland.
Thus, we will attempt to take advantage of photographing the auroras every night of our journey. For this, we will seek locations of extraordinary beauty, including beautiful wild beaches, imposing cliffs and fjords, dreamlike forests, and fantastic frozen lakes.
Of course, we will also take advantage of the rest of the day to photograph these magnificent landscapes. This entire Arctic area is renowned for the majesty of its settings, making it a perfect destination for any landscape photographer.
Without a doubt, winter is the best time of year to photograph the Northern Lights, the main objective of the tour. By traveling at this time, we will maximize the chances of seeing and capturing the mythical Northern Lights, in one of the most suitable places on the planet for this purpose.
Additionally, at this time we will enjoy the beauty of the snow covering the landscapes we visit, offering even better conditions for photography. If the landscapes are already impressive, the snow serves to further enhance the beautiful scenes of the area.
Lastly, during these months, the light is especially beautiful, as the sun does not rise too high above the horizon, allowing us to enjoy soft and warm light practically all day. This famous Arctic Light will provide dreamlike conditions for any photography enthusiast.
Our Northern Lights Photo Tour is suitable for all levels, both physical and photographic, as well as for all ages. It is an easy-level trip, designed so that anyone can join.
Firstly, no minimum physical level is required to join the trip. All the walks we will take are very short and simple, always very close to where we park our vehicles. Occasionally, we may take walks around the area we visit, exploring its multiple photographic possibilities, though they will always be short, simple, and at a very relaxed pace.
Additionally, there is no age limit, allowing anyone who is reasonably healthy to participate.
Similarly, no prior photographic experience is required, although it always helps. Our photo guide(s) will assist each participant during the trip, offering personalized attention, and adapted to each one’s level. This way, you will achieve fantastic photos during the trip, regardless of your level, even if it’s your first time using your photographic equipment.
Finally, you don’t need professional photographic equipment to join the group. Any camera can be used to fully enjoy the trip, although for aurora photography, the best quality possible is recommended. With any camera, you can enjoy the trip and the experience! As an example, we sometimes have clients who use compact cameras, or even just their smartphones.
Given all that has been mentioned so far, we can assure you that this Northern Lights Photo Tour will be a fantastic photographic experience. An unparalleled opportunity to learn to capture the magical Northern Lights, in a trip maximally focused on this purpose. All this, while learning and improving your photographic techniques.

The travel agency carefully studies and designs all the trips that we offer, always trying to adapt them to our travelers needs. All our itineraries and activities are chosen from a photographic point of view. However, the itinerary shown here is just an idea of some of the places that we will be visiting, not being contractual information about what we’ll do during the trip. The tour leaders, photo guides, other guides and/or the travel agency and organizers of the tour, reserve always the right to do any kind of changes to the itinerary and the tour, both before and during the trip.
In this sense, it will be up to the photographer/s guide/s or to the travel agency, the decision of changing any of the programmed activities, places to visit, and shooting sessions for each day, depending on factors as weather, security or light conditions, but not limited to these. We will always be in search of the best possible experiences and moments of light for the customers of this trip. However, sometimes we may decide to change plans depending on some factors. The program may also be changed in case of emergency, injury of illness of any of the participants or main photographers.
At the same time, both the photographers and the travel agency reserves the right of changing the tour leader/s, in case it’s necessary. Some of the reasons might include injuries, illness or hospitalization, severe health problems, accidents, (both of themselves as well as first grade relatives too), etc. In those cases, the agency will bring another photographer able to guide the group in the same destination.
Each traveler is responsible of having all the documentation needed for the trip, as well as for entering the destination/s. To visit Norway, Sweden and Finland, you need a valid Passport and might need a visa or an electronic travel authorization to enter the country. Always check the requirements with your country authorities before traveling to a foreign destination. The photographers and the travel agency have no responsibility about each traveler’s documentation, or about the requirements to be allowed to enter in Norway, Sweden and Finland or any other country.
This Northern Lights Photo Tour includes a basic assistance insurance. However, we strongly recommend you to bring a full travel insurance, which has unlimited or high limit money coverages in case of accident or disease.
The travel agency will give personal counseling and advice to travelers when purchasing their trip. Customers will receive a list with everything that they might need for the route, tips about how to prepare a medical kit for the travel, recommendations about the photography gear for the place, etc… At the same time, our staff will be happy to help and solve any doubt that the clients could have while they are preparing their trip.
We are completely sure that this Northern Lights Photo Tour will be an unforgettable experience for travelers, as well as an intensive learning process. The travel agency will always try to promote values such as respect (cultural, social and environmental). Those values will always prevail in all our trips. At the same time, ‘Dream Photo Expeditions’ will always ensure that the impact of their trips is never negative for the country, their citizens or their wildlife.
The travel agency, tour leaders, guides, or the photographers hosting the trip, will have no responsibility at all for any accident, loss, theft or damage suffered by the customers participating on it.
Each customer declares that he or she accepts all the conditions on this trip at the time he or she is doing a reservation request and/or payment for it.

During this winter Northern Lights Photo Tour, we can expect quite cold temperatures most of the time, but they are manageable with proper preparation. Average temperatures during this period usually range from 14º to 36º Fahrenheit (-10º to 2º Celsius). However, strong winds are common in the regions where we’ll be chasing the auroras, which can make it feel colder, especially at night.
For this reason, it’s essential to be well-prepared for a trip of this nature. A good quality down jacket or parka, as warm as possible, is a must. We also advise dressing in layers, allowing you to adjust easily to changing temperatures. Additionally, a Gore-Tex jacket or similar is recommended for rainy conditions. Mountain and/or snow boots are ideal for most of the terrain we’ll encounter. Upon confirming your booking, you will receive a guide with a recommended gear list tailored for this Northern Lights Photo Tour, ensuring you’re fully equipped for this incredible adventure.
This Northern Lights Photo Tour, like most of our journeys, does not include meals (breakfast, lunch, or dinner). This approach allows us maximum flexibility during our trip, enabling us to concentrate primarily on the most important aspect: photography. Typically, we’ll have breakfast at the hotel or nearby cafes, either before or after our sunrise photography session, depending on the schedule. For lunch, we might stop at restaurants on some days, while on others, we might pick up food from supermarkets (like fruits, snacks, sandwiches, etc.) for a picnic or even eat in our vehicles. Dinner will usually be at the hotel or in a local town.
However, this provides a wonderful opportunity to savor the excellent cuisine of the regions we visit. We especially recommend trying the local specialties, which may include outstanding fish and seafood, as well as other regional delicacies, enhancing your photo tour experience with culinary delights!
Currently, our primary payment method for the Northern Lights Photo Tour is bank transfer. However, if you prefer, we also offer alternative payment options, including credit or debit card, PayPal, or TransferWise. Please be aware that these additional payment methods may incur a commission fee. Feel free to inquire about these different payment options.
