In addition to our winter edition, we offer you our new Senja Photo Tour Fall Edition, complementing our other photo tours in Norway. Both in winter and fall, you can enjoy an unforgettable photographic adventure in a fascinating area. Our fall tour will take place from November 9 to 16, 2025. On this tour, we will photograph the stunning landscapes of the area, as well as the magical Northern Lights. Along with the Lofoten Islands archipelago, Senja is another of the most scenic regions in all of Norway. Arctic mountain landscapes, impressive fjords and peaks, and spectacular wild beaches—Senja offers us infinite photographic possibilities.
Furthermore, doing this tour in winter means that all the landscapes are completely covered in snow, enhancing their already extraordinary beauty. Additionally, being above the Arctic Circle, Senja is one of the best destinations in the world to observe the Northern Lights. This way, we will have a great chance of photographing this magical natural phenomenon. All of this in an area that is still not as crowded as Lofoten or Iceland, the most famous destinations for winter landscape photography. As a result, we can enjoy a much more complete experience.
In short, this Senja Photo Tour Fall Edition will be a dream come true for any landscape photography enthusiast. A full week of photography and learning that will allow you to return home with hundreds of stunning photos. All of this on a tour adapted for all ages and in a very small group.
This Senja Photo Tour Fall Edition is entirely focused on landscape photography and Northern Lights photography.
Senja is an island in Northern Norway, surrounded by spectacular fjords and peaks that end in beautiful wild beaches, giving the area a sublime beauty. Much less visited and crowded than its neighbor Lofoten, Senja offers us landscapes and locations just as beautiful, with as many photographic opportunities as Lofoten. The coast of Senja is filled with winding cliffs, with extraordinary views to photograph the surroundings. We can say that practically every step we take will reveal a fantastic view to photograph.
During the week we spend in Senja, we will visit all the locations in the archipelago, taking advantage of the best light conditions to visit the most scenic spots. At the same time, the winter snow and ice will provide especially idyllic conditions. Often, we will find foregrounds where we can capture the beautiful textures and shapes that the snow creates.
But beyond its landscapes, Senja will also offer us excellent opportunities to photograph the Northern Lights. Every night, we will monitor the weather conditions and solar activity forecasts to try to seize any opportunity to capture this magical phenomenon. With a bit of luck, we will be able to enjoy nature’s greatest spectacle.
In our opinion, this is a fantastic time to photograph Senja for several reasons.
First, it is one of the best times of the year to photograph the Northern Lights, one of the main goals of the tour. By taking the trip at this time, we will maximize the chances of seeing and capturing the mythical Northern Lights in one of the most favorable destinations on the planet.
Additionally, at this time, it is possible that snow will already be covering the landscapes we will visit, providing even better conditions for photography. If the landscapes are already impressive, snow will further enhance the area’s beautiful scenery.
Finally, at this time of year, the light is especially beautiful, as the sun doesn’t rise too high above the horizon, allowing us to enjoy soft and warm light for almost the entire day. This famous Arctic Light will offer dream conditions for any photography enthusiast.
Our Senja Photo Tour Fall Edition is suitable for all levels, both physical and photographic, as well as for all ages. It is an easy-level tour, designed so that anyone can join.
On the one hand, no minimum physical level is required to join the tour. Most of the routes we take will be very short and simple, stopping almost always right at the spots. On some occasions, we may take short walks around the area we visit, exploring its many photographic opportunities, but they will always be easy and at a very relaxed pace.
There will only be one more demanding hike, about 3-4 hours round trip, to photograph the iconic view of Segla Mountain. For this, we will rent snowshoes (not included in the price) to tackle the roughly 400-meter elevation gain from the starting point to the destination. However, this hike will be optional, so those who don’t feel up for it can rest at the hotel or enjoy the town of Fjordgard while waiting for us. Additionally, whether we do this hike will depend on weather and mountain conditions.
Moreover, there is no age limit, and anyone reasonably healthy can participate in the tour.
As for the photography level, no previous photographic experience is required, although it always helps. Our photography guide(s) will assist each participant during the tour, offering personalized attention adapted to everyone’s level. This way, you will capture fantastic photos during the trip, regardless of your level, even if it’s your first time using your camera.
Likewise, you don’t need professional photography equipment to join the group. Any camera will allow you to make the most of the trip, although for Northern Lights photography, the best quality is recommended. With any camera, you’ll enjoy the tour and the experience! As an example, some of our clients use compact cameras or even just their smartphones.
For all the reasons mentioned, we can assure you that this Senja Photo Tour Fall Edition will be a fantastic photographic experience. An extraordinary trip to a dream destination where you will see your photographic dreams come true. A true paradise for landscape photography and for capturing the fabulous Northern Lights. All this while learning and improving your photography techniques.
All of this in a small group, which will facilitate learning and making the most of the experience. Can you imagine being there, ready with your tripod to capture all the beauty of the area? Now you can make your wish come true by taking advantage of one of the few spots available to photograph the incredible Senja. Don’t wait any longer and join this Senja Photo Tour Fall Edition.
Our Senja Photo Tour Fall Edition will begin with the group meeting at Tromso airport, Norway. Once we introduce ourselves, we’ll start our journey through the Norwegian Arctic, driving in our vehicles to Senja.
During this journey, we’ll make a few stops in search of the first images of the tour. Also, after settling into our accommodation, we’ll take advantage of the opportunity to photograph the first Northern Lights of the trip.
Today, we’ll start early and head, before sunrise, to a spectacular panoramic view of the Traelvika fjord. From here, we’ll enjoy the beautiful morning light as it bathes the snowy landscapes around us.
After that, we’ll spend most of the day exploring the eastern part of the island, photographing various locations around it. Among the areas we’ll visit are wild beaches and fjords, as well as picturesque fishing villages and hamlets. During this time, we’ll search for frozen areas along the shores, which will offer us extraordinary close-up shots. As we’ve mentioned, due to the sun’s low height at this time of year, the light will always be soft and warm, making it much easier to capture fabulous images.
Finally, we’ll head to photograph the sunset in the Husoy area, from a viewpoint offering spectacular views of the island. Afterward, we’ll have dinner and assess the possibility of a nighttime outing to photograph the Northern Lights. If conditions are favorable, we’ll attempt to capture this wonderful natural phenomenon.
After a well-deserved rest, we’ll begin a new day photographing the sunrise from a beautiful location near our accommodation, where we’ll enjoy stunning reflections of the fjord.
After breakfast, we’ll continue photographing some of the nearby villages, like Lysnes or Indre Arnes. In these areas, we’ll have the opportunity to capture magical views with impressive reflections of the surrounding fjords. Without a doubt, it’s a true paradise for landscape photography enthusiasts.
Next, we’ll have an optional visit that each participant can join depending on their physical condition and energy. It’s the trekking to Hesten, where we’ll photograph one of Senja’s most iconic locations, the spectacular Segla mountain. To get here, there’s a 400-meter elevation gain, and we’ll spend two to three hours round trip. Although this is a more challenging hike than anything else we’ll do during the tour, we believe the reward, with the views we’ll get, will make the effort more than worthwhile. We’ll stay here until sunset, photographing the sunset from this uniquely beautiful spot. This visit will always be subject to weather and mountain conditions.
After dinner, if the weather permits, we’ll head out once more to attempt to photograph the Northern Lights. Afterward, we’ll return to our accommodation to rest.
Once again, we’ll start the day photographing a new sunrise from one of the most beautiful locations in Senja, in the Bergsbotn area. From the spectacular viewpoint here, we’ll be able to capture one of the most breathtaking views in all of Senja. It’s a perfect spot to photograph the first light of the day as it illuminates the magical landscapes around us.
After breakfast, we’ll hit the road again to photograph several of the most fascinating locations in this part of Senja. During this trip, we’ll pass through villages like Steinfjord, Bovaer, and Skaland, surrounded by incomparable wild beauty. Once again, we’ll have the chance to photograph dreamlike views as well as beautiful beaches, peaks, and fjords.
For sunset, we’ll head to one of the star locations of the tour, Tugeneset. From here, we’ll be amazed by the views of the fjord, with the sharp peaks of the Okshornan massif in the background. In addition to photographing the sunset from here, this will be the spot where we’ll return in search of capturing the Northern Lights.
Today we’ll continue photographing the same area, visiting Tugeneset again at sunrise, looking for different light than what we captured the previous evening.
We’ll continue photographing the surroundings after breakfast, this time visiting villages like Nefjordvaer and Senjahopen, which will equally provide us with endless locations with great photographic potential.
We’ll finish the afternoon with a visit to Ersfjord beach at sunset. From here, we’ll photograph the last light of the day, once again with the rugged Okshornan peaks in the background. Just like the previous day, we’ll return to this spot after dinner if the weather conditions are favorable, to photograph the Northern Lights.
Once we’ve had breakfast, we’ll head out to explore another part of the island, visiting places like Senjatrollet and Gryllefjord, among others. From this area, we’ll have a simply glorious view of the Gryllefjorden fjord.
We’ll spend the entire day exploring the surroundings, finishing by photographing the sunset once again in the Hamn area. We’ll also take advantage of the last moments of daylight in the blue hour, contrasting with the warm artificial lighting of the village.
After dinner, we’ll head out for another night photography session, to capture the Northern Lights, if the weather conditions allow it.
Today, after rising early to photograph the sunrise near our accommodation, we’ll take the opportunity to explore the southwestern part of the island, visiting the Anderdalen National Park area.
Alternatively, depending on the conditions, we may spend part of this last full day in Senja visiting locations that we might have missed due to the weather, as well as revisiting those we liked the most.
After photographing the sunset, we’ll have dinner and take advantage of our last chance to photograph the Northern Lights.
Today we’ll rise early to head to Tromso airport, where our Senja Photo Tour Fall Edition will come to an end.
Optionally, at the end of the Senja Photo Tour Fall Edition, you can choose to do a 3-night optional extension, during which we’ll visit Tromso and the surrounding islands. Known as the Capital of the Arctic, Tromso is one of the best places on the planet to photograph the Northern Lights. From here, we’ll visit numerous fjords, beaches, and mountains, offering fabulous photographic opportunities.
The price of this extraordinary Senja Photo Tour Fall Edition in Northern Norway, an 8-day tour (7 nights at the destination), is US$3,190 (US$4,190 for a single room) per person, based on accommodation in cabins or shared rooms with other participants (2 to 4 people).
