This was my first time in Iceland, and it didn’t disappoint me. Our photo guide was Sergio Lanza, of whom I had very good references. He was constantly taking care of us, searching for the best light conditions, and solving all our doubts and questions. After visiting Ladakh, I think that it’s an essential trip for any landscape and high mountain photographer. We were driving by Khardung La and there wasn’t a single minute on the trip when we didn’t find spectacular views, stopping almost several times until we got to the perpetual snows in the pass.
The guided visits to the monasteries, as well as to many not touristic locations, the visits to many local houses, and living an unforgettable experience visiting a ‘rebo’ (the tents where the Changpa nomads live), where a Changpa womas was making cheese, were some of the highlights of this photo tour. In 2018, I wanted to travel to Canada, to satisfy my Nature photography enthusiasm. My destination was the Canadian Rockies in Alberta and British Columbia. Looking for Leh in Google Maps was enough for me to decide that it was going to be my next photo tour. It looked like a unique territory, worth exploring, as well as a very promising photo adventure.
It had everything I like in a trip: extreme landscapes, from the ochres in the cold deserts, to the greenish of the valley fields, or the blues from the mountain lakes. Always with spectacular skies, and clouds that get a whole palette of colors by dawn and dusk; portraits of authentic people, who still preserve their own idiosyncrasy, which is something very difficult to find nowadays; very old Buddhist temples, even with chances of experiencing their ceremonies, etc.. To be honest, the destination exceeded my expectations.
The photo tour was perfectly organized by Workshops Photo Tours. I was traveling alone, and the group was formidable. We were able to get all the photo tips and instructions that we needed. Regarding the hotels and restaurants, they were very well, taking into account that this is a very remote area. A hundred percent recommended.’

The locations they selected were incredible. Besides, their professionalism, the punctuality… Their photo tours are designed and hosted by specialized photographers, and made for photographers. May 2019… I found a website offering tours for photography lovers, and I realized that I loved all of them, but I didn’t know which one to choose!! Finally I decided for one of them, the following year, to a really amazing destination: Lofoten Islands. I talked with one person, Sergio Lanza. I love photography, but I must confess I am not a professional. However, I decided to join an Iceland Photo Tour, with a borrowed camera, so I could learn from the true professionals. Undoubtedly, I really loved the experience, and I will repeat for sure! Icelandic landscapes are otherworldly and Sergio, our photo guide, knows perfectly all the most photogenic routes and locations. It was like postcard views anytime! Each spot was even more beautiful than the previous ones, which already were amazing… The best part was being able to see and photograph the Northern Lights, even together with the Milky Way, that was simply wonderful for me!
